My new score: Part V bloody dream mask.

Being a huge fan of A New Beginning and a fan of Crash's work, after I saw one of these dream hocks that he did some time ago I decided that I wanted one for myself. Here are some photos from Crash's site of my hock-- it's done on a clear blank and screen accurate to a tee. One thing I really love about this hock is the Frankenstein look to it with the screws holding the straps and buttons on. This was probably because David Miller removed them to make a mold to produce
the Roy hocks that were used in the movie.

Friday The 13th DVD still if the week.

Here is William Butler from Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood. William got the small part of Michael as a favor from friend and (then) employer, and director of the movie John Carl Buechler. William has had the misfortune of being killed by Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, The Ghoulies, zombies in Night Of The Living Dead and Jason Voorhees.

William did special make-up effects for John Carl Buechler before becoming a genre actor and now a writer and director. Some of his notable achievements was writing Return Of The Living Dead IV and V as well as directing horror movies such as Madhouse and Furnace.

Friday The 13th behind the scenes photo of the week.

This is one a lot of fans have probably seen already, but I have this weird soft spot for the first entry into the franchise. The behind the scenes photos that Tom Savini took of his special make-up effects has this very beautiful, black and white look to them that I just love looking at. It may come from Savini's work as a combat photographer in the Vietnam War-- his ability to capture the beauty in death. I use the term "beauty" in the sense of the photograph and the photography, not the actual dead body. This photo is of Harry Crosby (Bill) getting prepared for his scene where Alice finds him dead on the pumphouse door.

Unmasked Jason concept art from the upcoming DVD.

I think this photo is creepy as hell, and it's too bad the finished Jason did not look more like the photo. This can be seen on this small advertising featurette for the upcoming DVD below.

Fan film Friday: The Rebirth

Back in around 2003 Mike Boas released "The Rebirth" on the internet and became one of the more interesting fan films out there. It tells the animated tale of Jason after he witnesses Alice beheading his mother connecting Parts I and II together. Now, I don't subscribe to the this story at all, as I see the end of Part I as a dream. At any rate, it's very nicely done and very nicely animated. It won several awards from 2003 - 2005 and rightfully so. Give it a watch and see for yourself.

This was my ultimate-favorite press kit: Friday The 13th Part V. Again, I'd like to point out that even though these photos were stills from the movie that they just have a candid look to them. Here are photos of the folder, the press book and various press photos.

New score Part 2, Electric Boogaloo: NOP Pooch's "Hangman"

This is not my score, but a Night Owl Productions Forum member Pooch--literally one of a kind, apparently the author of this mask D-Bach (also known as Daniel) did one pull and ended up re-sculpting this piece. It's pretty much (mask-wise) the best one out there next to the infamous ITZ-U, however far rarer. Check out the thread on Night Owl Forums for more photos of this amazing piece.

I finally got this mask, I have to say the workmanship on it is amazing. Justin really went all out on his last batch of Maggothead II's before he discontinued them. I have a few more masks on order from him and can't wait to get them!

Fan Film Friday: Michael vs. Jason, Showdown Of The Killers

This being one of the oldest fan films out there (1994, I believe), and one of the better, I won'
t really rip into it much. It's basically about a bunch of friends hanging out and drinking one night when two iconic killers come to disrupt their good time. It's directed by Steven Pershing and by Steel Spirit Pictures and has a very professional look to it. The editing and acting were all beyond typical fan film quality and is a very entertaining 7 minutes.
