A New Beginning Screen-Used Machete

from: Your Props
From time to time we see these Friday the 13th screen-used props come up, but here's one from A New Beginning owned by "Deadmess" from the Your Props website. This machete has the cut-out for the neck-- to simulate it cutting-- and a blood tube to add blood to the faux cut. This kill, like most in A New Beginning, was pretty much cut out of the movie.

A New Beginning Killer Set Up

A Roy Burns shot in Part V
After watching Friday the 13th: Part V, A New Beginning the other day I payed close attention to certain scenes (more particularly the one's with Roy) to see if I could pick out subtle nuances with the character that was trying to hint at Roy being the killer. I have always said that without knowing that Roy is the killer it is literally impossible to tell that he was the killer or even was to be a suspect. Watching the movie as a child for the first time I did not suspect Roy, Tommy, Victor, Junior or anyone else. I suspected Jason.

Roy Figure

from: Evilface.com

Stumbled across this great Roy figure on www.evilface.com. I really love all the love for A New Beginning! He explains why he made ole Roy:

Sideshow Collectible did a incredible run of horror figures, including almost every Friday The 13th Jason and his mother. But for some reason they didn't complete the line excluding Jason from Part 8 and "Roy" from Part 5. Well I decided to make my own Part 5 Roy "Jason" figure.

My new "Roy" Bohr/Dark Side Studios.

Until Night Owl releases their Dick Head Roy mask, this will have to do. I am not a huge fan of this sculpt, but it does has it's charm. This one was sculpted by Jeremy Bohr and painted by Dark Side Studios. I am not liking the eyes, so I will have them repainted as well as the brows punched as apposed to glued.

Not to knock the painter-- it is painted fine, I am just anal. With some added highlights and tweaks here and there this will be a show-quality piece! The pull is super thick so it stands up well as a bust- I think I will have it foam filled as well.

Roy Burns.

You know, not enough people pay homage to Friday The 13th Part V. I personally love that movie and aside from it's campiness, which I sort of compare to Cheerleader Camp, the movie probably was the last Friday The 13th movie with that Friday The 13th formula and atmosphere. People generally complain that Jason is not in the film, ergo the movie is bad- but, Jason is in the film and the movie is easily better than anything that came after it. Roy as a killer was as brutal as Jason- he was relentless and very creative with his kills and his mask was just sweet!
