Here is a semi-recent photo of Harry Crosby from the first, original, and best Friday the 13th movies from 1980. He was speaking at an event to honor his father, Harry Bing Crosby called "Bing Crosby Rediscovered.

Franchise Loses Another Actor

Irwin Keyes, known for being such a sweetheart guy passed away today at age 63. While he did not have a large role in Friday the 13th (1980), he was very well known at franchise gatherings and conventions - and known for his role in the Rob Zombie shit flick House of 1,000 Corpses.

Rest in peace, Irwin.

Keyes died of acromegaly, a rare pituitary gland disorder, his manager Phil Brock confirmed to EW. He had been in a rehabilitation center for the past few months. - Entertainment Weekly

Rest in Peace, Betsy!

I just wanted to take a minute and send my condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Betsy Palmer - a woman who all of us Friday the 13th fans had looked up to as "mommy" for over thirty years. You will be missed, and you will always be Mrs. Voorhees to us. 

Young Adrienne King!

I will clarify that I am not a fan of Ari's music – not my style – but I will say that I love that Ari has engaged the fans and embraced them (even if it's for profit) completely. Even though he has only a few seconds of infamy, he has become a fan favorite.

Behind the Scenes: Friday the 13th (1980)

Here's a really hi-res shot of Mark Nelson (Ned) from Friday the 13th (1980) where you can get a good look at his special make-up effects applied by the master Tom Savini. This definitely wasn't Savini's crowning moment in horror, but it is still an iconic moment nonetheless. 

Robbi Morgan as Curly McDimple, 1967 - 1969

Long before Robbi Morgan portrayed the impossible-to-dislike Annie in Friday the 13th (1980), she starred as a Shirley Temple rip-off Curly McDimple on Broadway in a musical with the same name. Apparently the show ran a few years with Robbi as Curly McDimple.

Rex Everhart: Voice Artist

Not a lot of people may be aware that Rex verhart (Enos from Friday the 13th: 1980) had a very prolific career in theater and as a voice artist in several animated movies. He also was nominated for a Tony Award in 1978 for his work in a  musical called Working. He worked in theater from about 1939 until his death where he was well known for his role as Benjamin Franklin in the Broadway musical 1776.

Glad to see that Jeannine Taylor (Friday the 13th) started to make appearances. She has one of the most memorable deaths in the entire franchise.

This is sort of old news, but I really dig this poster depicting the final girls of Friday the 13th: Part I, II, III and IV. It's available from Fright Rags for $89.99. Those hardcore Friday the 13th collectors out there will love this-- and it's a good cause. Here's a pretty rare behind-the-scenes shot of Tom Savini and his assistant Taso Stavrakis moulding the head of Betsy Palmer (Mrs. Voorhees) for her iconic beheading scene in Friday the 13th (1980). Both Savini and Stavrakis undertook the duties of special make-up effects as well as actually playing the killer Mrs. Voorhees in scenes where Betsy Palmer's likeness was not exposed. Savini and Stavrakis played Alice and Mrs' Voorhees in the beheading scene.

Beg Just Be a Nightmare!

Some more foreign greatness from Brandon Middleton. Today it is an Argentinian PAL VHS of Friday the 13th (1980). The tagline is a piece of broken-English greatness: "Beg Just Be a Nightmare."
