Happy Friday the 13th, Ya'll

Looks like Jason is taking a break on yet another Friday the 13th.

It seems like every thing that was in talks has yet to come to fruition. No movies, no TV series, nothing. I think that I may be okay with that, too.

So, here's a great picture of Ted White as Jason taking a break from the movie - hanging out by a nice fire along Crystal Lake and letting the campers do as they will.

And sorry that I don't update this much, I really don't have a whole lot to say about the franchise right now.

Kimberly Beck in Zuma Beach (1978)

Zuma Beach is a made for TV movie, starring Rosanna Arquette, P.J. Soles and Suzanne Somers. Not a bad flick at all, and you get to see Kim in a bikini! It was surprisingly entertaining, with a lot of 70s era beach antics.

Kimberly Beck in Nightmare at Noon (1988)

It's been a great while since I have seen Nightmare at Noon, also known as Death Street USA. To put it nice, it is a B-rate Sci-Fi turd that clocks in at over 2 hours long. It also stars Bo Hopkins (one degree of separation; he was in Sweet Sixteen with Dana Kimmell!) George Kennedy, and Wings Hauser. The movie in a nutshell is about evil scientists putting a questionable substance in the town's water supply, which in turn drives the residents to become blood-thirsty. 

The movie was directed by Niko Mastorakis, who also did The Wind and The Zero Boys, which also connects him the the Friday the 13th franchise. The post art for The Wind was also used for the Turkish release of Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning and the Zero Boys had a scene shot at the legendary cabin at the Veluzat Movie Ranch, which was of course used in Friday the 13th Part III.

More Friday the 13th: Part IV Filming Locations!

I posted before on the Zaca Lake scenes filming location here, which is quite a ways away from the filming area where the driving/road scenes with the teens, and the lake kills were done. This area is in the area which is actually Beverly Hills, though quite a ways from the area commonly shown as Beverly Hills. 

It's a protected area in the Santa Monica Mountains called Franklin Canyon. The lake is actually Upper Franklin Canyon Reservoir, also called Myers Lake.

Paramount's Footloose and Friday the 13th: Part IV advert has Jason killing Kevin Bacon, making him the only person to have been killed by Mrs. Voorhees AND Jason Voorhees, right? Well, maybe not! I do what to know how Footloose gets a PG rating, though.

Lawrence Monoson (Teddy) from Friday the 13th: Part IV hasn't shied away from saying some pretty douchey things about his role as Teddy in the movie, calling it many things including low-taste, worse-than-B-movie-quality and a shameful movie.

I haven't been able to make it to Zaca Lake – the shooting location for some of the lake scenes in Friday the 13th: Part IV – since it's quite far away in Santa Barbara County, so here are some shots of the probable shooting areas of the film.

Like him or hate him – and if you hate this man, then you suck – Ted White is an industry icon, working alongside the most influential/legendary names in movie history. He amassed one of the most impressive resumes for a stuntman in his era and he worked when stuntmen did a lot of very dangerous stunts without any union backing for safety regulations.

Blackberry Farm at Kelly Gulch

A lot of us Friday the 13th fans are aware that the famous Kelly Gulch property at 1801 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd. was up for sale recently. Looks like the new owners have turned it into a functioning farm, but still available for filming and weddings.

I am very happy that the new owners have chose to use this property for personal use as opposed to just having it there for rental, shooting, etc.

The location is as beautiful as ever and they hold pubic events like Halloween parties and pie baking contests! This means that fans will have an opportunity to tour the property legally.

Barbara Howard Promo Shot

Here's a semi-recent photograph of Barbara Howard of Friday the 13th: Part IV. I am not sure when it is from, but I am assuming early-2000s. Even though she is one of the Friday alum who'd rather never re-live her days on set, she is one of the most sympathetic and loved characters in the entire series.

This is sort of old news, but I really dig this poster depicting the final girls of Friday the 13th: Part I, II, III and IV. It's available from Fright Rags for $89.99. Those hardcore Friday the 13th collectors out there will love this-- and it's a good cause. All posters (limited to 175, 16 left in stock) are signed by all four final girls and 60% of proceeds go to charity.

Kimberly Beck in The Commish (1991)

Kimberly Beck stars in Season 1 (episode 7) episode of The Commish in 1991 titled Behind the Storm Door. Beck plays a woman named Michelle Carver, a woman who becomes infatuated with Tony Scali (Michael Chiklis), and even more so when he comes to her aid when she is beaten by her estranged husband. I haven't seen this, but Beck was just as stunning in 1991 ad she was in 1984. Here is a synopsis from IMDB:  

Bruce Mahler on "Fridays" with George Carlin

Thank you, Brandon, for bringing this brilliant piece to my attention. It's from the show Fridays (which was supposed to be a Saturday Night Live ripoff) from 1981 (show G-06) in a skit called K.P.L.O.: Radio Palestine with Friday the 13th: Part IV alum Bruce "Superbowl Of Self Abuse" Mahler and the legendary George Carlin.

Foxy Ladies of Buck Rogers: Kimberly Beck

I horked these photos from the awesome Retrospace Blog in a Foxy Ladies of Buck Rogers post. I was never a huge Buck Rogers fan, in fact I really disliked the show a lot until re-watching it not long ago. Kimberly starred as Allison Michaels in the season 1 episode (#11) Cruise Ship to the Stars that aired December 27, 1979.
