Happy Friday the 13th, Ya'll

Looks like Jason is taking a break on yet another Friday the 13th.

It seems like every thing that was in talks has yet to come to fruition. No movies, no TV series, nothing. I think that I may be okay with that, too.

So, here's a great picture of Ted White as Jason taking a break from the movie - hanging out by a nice fire along Crystal Lake and letting the campers do as they will.

And sorry that I don't update this much, I really don't have a whole lot to say about the franchise right now.

Like him or hate him – and if you hate this man, then you suck – Ted White is an industry icon, working alongside the most influential/legendary names in movie history. He amassed one of the most impressive resumes for a stuntman in his era and he worked when stuntmen did a lot of very dangerous stunts without any union backing for safety regulations.

I think we have all seen the black and white and low res versions of this photo of Ted White during the filming of Frday the 13th: Part IV. Well, thanks to Crash we have this awesome shot to gander at. From the looks of this photo, it looks like filming was pretty chilly. We all know the story of Judie Aronson and the cold lake, but Topanga Canyon can get pretty cold in the winter time.

Looking back at issue #36 of Fangoria I notice on the body count list #12 is Mom: drowned in bathtub. We all know that the scene where Trish finds her mother dead in the bathtub-- which did make it to the box set in the alternate ending-- never made it to the final cut of the film as per director Joe Zito's request.

Happy #87 Ted White!

It's widely know that Ted White was the oldest actor to have portrayed Jason Voorhees when he took the role in 1983 to be behind the mask in Friday the 13th: Part IV. Even at an older age (57) he put on the hockey mask and kicked ass, performing (as far as I know) every stunt in the movie.

All I've gotta say is that I love this man. Ted may not be a genre fan like Kane Hodder or Derek Mears, but this is a man who really appreciates and loves his fans even if he is not a fan of horror movies at all. What you get is a no bullshit attitude from Ted, but always a smile and a grateful attitude.

Jori from ForcedViewing.com spoke to Ted in November while at Flashback Weekend and he had a lot to say. In the conversation he goes into detail about reading (yes, reading) for the role as Jason and turning down the job, only to reconsider when he heard a "chi-ching."

Most Friday the 13th fans are more than aware of the story of how Ted White lashed out against The Final Chapter's director Joseph Zito when he refused to let actress Judie Aronson have a break when filming her death scene where she was submerged in near-freezing water. White claims he threatened to quit the film if he did not allow her to rest and warm up or get a stuntwoman to do the scene. Years later Aronson claimed that she was hypothermic and became ill after the fact and blamed it on Zito.

Obviously getting Ted White's (Friday the 13th: Part IV) signature now is quite easy. But when I first started collecting it took me about 4 years of leads to even find his address to write to him and ask for one. Then it took me 3 or 4 tries to have him respond and when he did in 2003 I was ecstatic  Ted had not yet stepped into the spotlight that he well deserved and was still considered an actor who was distancing himself.

Ted White gives Jason Voorhees' death a thumbs up on the set of Friday The 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter. Jason's gruesome death was never seen to it's gory glory until the Deluxe Edition came out a handful of months ago. Even still, you could not enjoy it fully until you (or someone else) edited it all back together. Here are some behind the scenes photos of that death!

I just wanted to post this because a lot of people make negative comments about Ted White regarding his history with the franchise. It's well know that he was never a fan of the movies, but that does not mean he was not a fan of his role. Here's a great interview by DeadPit.com where Ted explains the infamous "money" situation with the role. Much like everyone else Ted also talks about how much he loves his fans. It's easily one of the best video interviews of White ever.
