How Jason Really Got His Mask

A lot of fans of the Friday The 13th franchise want to know where the idea of the mask came from. So, according to the special effects guy in charge Douglas J White it's quite simple. The mask was supposed to be a generic clear mask that Shelly wore in the beginning of Friday The 13th Part III to scare Andy, however after the director wanted Jason to have a mask with more personality they searched for a better one. As all fans know Jason did not have a mask in Part I (he was in it) and wore a sack over his head in Part II and never got his infamous hockey mask until 2/3 into Part III. So, in Douglas J White's own words here's how it came to be. This is from Crash Army.com

Jedidiah

I'm a huge fan of fan films (fan made "franchise" movies) and this one, well it's probably the best I have ever seen next to "Legends". It's called Jedidah and it's a Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan film, done very well.

Friday The 13th remake soapbox.

I really fucking hate the fact that people have associated Jason with a machete as his signature weapon. Not only is a machete whimpy, weak and notoriously dull, but the only way to make a machete intimidating is to make it look all silly- like a Katana. Most of the publicity photos of the remake has Jason with a machete which sort of frustrates me. Until late (as in Freddy vs Jason) Jason never used a machete much at all, and basically only used one because it was handy. I know I am over analyzing this, but is sort of bothers me that people fele the need to associate Jason with a signature weapon... Grrr

His Name Was Jason...

For all of the fan boys like me, here you go. It's what seems to be the official cover art and the official trailer for the DVD. So, when you are buying the new 1-3 SE's, pick this up as well! It seems like it will have some awesome BTS footage, thines we have never see from these (Paramount) movies.

Rob Zombies H2

So, first Rob Zombie says he will never do a remake, and then he signs on to do the Halloween remake- although he never called it a remake. He always suggested it was a reimagining, which to me is like putting a dick in our mouth and saying you don't suck. Then he later said he would absolutely never do a sequel to the movie, and here we are... it was just announced that Rob will direct a sequel to the REMAKE Halloween II.

Hideous Looking Man...

Being a huge fan of Friday The 13th Part III, I have to love the fact that someone is actually making a mask/bust out of the "alternat" face for Jason. This make up was initially done by the late, great Stan Winston and then was scrapped at the end of the movie when Jason was unmasked for a more deformed human look that I also love.

This mask is being done by Crash Cunningham and probably will be $200+. I have seen a few others made by other mask makers, but none have been this good. It's most definitely the most screen accurate and the best sculpted.

I think it is.

Official trailer.

Here's the official Friday The 13th remake trailer, looks promising. I love the human, running, stalking, realistic Jason... very oldschool trailer, old school Jason, I saw a few homages (crashing through the window), etc. The count (i.e. 1,2,3,etc) just like the first two movies and of course a very old school style logo and a scene where Jason was wearing the sack and not the hockey mask like in Part 2... sweet.
