Friday The 13th 2010: My Wish List

So, with Friday The 13th 2009 being such a great success we are being (blessed) with another installment-- probably in 3-D and if the rumors are correct without Derek Mears. Although Brad Fuller has said Mears will indeed come back, you never know. A couple months back some rumors surfaced that the chode Tim Sylvia will be donning the mask for the sequel and I have to say that would be a fucking mistake. Not only does his body look out of shape and portly, but he just does not have the body of Jason Voorhees.

Another rumor floating around is that the opening sequence will take place in the Winter, which has been something a good amount of fans has wanted for some time now. I'm on the fence about it as long as it's done right, it may work. I mean, Camp Crystal Lake supposed to be in the Northeast USA, which is infamous for it's snow so it makes sense.

Behind the scenes photos of the week: Part III

indHere's a handful of behind the scenes photos from Friday The 13th Part III. Clockwise from the left: 1) Richard Brooker wearing the Part 3 stunt hock used for the axe chop to the head. 2) The slit throat gag from Lerry Zerner's (Shelly) death scene. 3) Richard Brooker (Jason) wearing Stan Winston's mask in between shots during Chili's poker death. 4) Director Steve Miner and (what seems to be writers Martin Kitrosser and Karen Kitrosser-Watson. 5) A shot from the long-lost alternate ending. 6) Special Effects master Douglas J. White applying make-up to Marilyn Poucher (Mrs. Voorhees).

Video Dead will premier on MGM HD in HD!

For fans of this little movie- such as myself- this should be a great treat for us! MGM HD is one of the more underrated HD channels out there (any channel who plays Motel Hell in HD is cool in my book!) and they will be showing The Video Dead starting November 1st at 11pm EST and will be playing throughout the month.

For those of you who have never seen this movie, it's about a zombie outbreak via an old possessed TV! It's got the same feel of other 80's obscure and marginally good gems such as Terrorvision, Night Of The Comet and Chopping Mall. To see what you are missing, here are some comparisons with the VHS and the new HD transfer below!

Be sure to visit The Video Dead on DVD Myspace to help get this thing released legitimately!

Friday The 13th Part II: August 13, 2010?

Looks like it is indeed coming!

Friday the 13th Part 2 Date Official

October 1, 2009

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. made it official today. Friday the 13th Part 2, a sequel to this year's Friday the 13th, is slated to hit on August 13, 2010.

Brad Fuller and Andrew Form tipped us off back in June right here, that if all goes according to plan, that was the date they were looking at. Fuller stresses to us, however, that the sequel still does not have a greenlight.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift will return to write. And Derek Mears will absolutely be back to reprise his role as Jason Voorhees, contrary to the many wild rumors running around on the web.

DVD stills of the week: Jason Takes Manhattan Deluxe Edition

For those who did not get the Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan Deluxe Editions, here are some screen captures from the extras. The special features included a "making of..." documentary as well as cut scenes and a gag reel.

JasonLivesSince1980's Part 3 bust is finished!

He's selling raw (blank) pulls for $180 and this thing came out fantastic. I think it's one of the top 4 Part 3 busts out there and that says a lot. You can contact him through the Night Owl Forum if you are interested in this!

Warrington Gillette on JustTalkRadio.com 9pm tonight!

Tune into Just Talk Radio at 9pm for the guest Warrington Gillette, also known as Jason Voorhees from Friday The 13th Part II.

Tune in and listen to him talk about shooting Friday The 13th Part II, and all of the fun he had on set throughout the 28 day shoot- including how tough all of the stunts were to perform.

I'm excited as hell to hear about his work with Stunt Coordinator Cliff Cudney and his stunt double Steve Dash who took a few falls for him.

A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010 trailer is here!

A Nightmare on Elm Street in HD

Like virtually every horror fan-- and especially us 1980's kids-- this trailer has been THE most anticipaed thing since maybe the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake trailer and I think even more than that. Freddy Krueger seemed to be the one horror villain that everyone was really nervous about being re-created.

I personally think that Jackie Earle Haley will do a good job as Freddy and that according to the trailer he pretty much nailed Freddy. The trailer looked good though- looks like it has that atmosphere that A Nightmare On Elm Street 1 and 2 had, which pretty much all but dissipated after (maybe) Part 3 or 4. The look of Freddy is 50/50-- he now looks like a legitimate burn victim, something he old Freddy did not. Jackie's speech as Freddy was also accurate as a burn victim even though it does sound a lot like he's trying to be Robert Englund too hard.

All in all, I dug the trailer and I have a feeling that this movie is going to make a shit-ton of money.

After re-organizing my VHS collection I noticed that a lot of titles that I owned had very, very similar covers. Most of them were all on different distribution labels so it most definitely not the distribution label copying itself over and over again. Most of these covers have a very common motif- we see the killer and his weapon very close up in the foreground and way off into the distance we wee a house and sometimes in between a victim or two. Some of the more known movies that have this on the VHS box art are Home Sweet Home, Horror House On Highway 5 and Alone In The Dark to name a few. Here are some scans of a handful that I could find-- there are many others.
