Behind the Scenes of Mrs. Voorhees' Decapitation

from: TGIF13
Thank you TGIF13 for this amazing shot of Betsy Palmer and Tom Savini during the shooting of Mrs. Voorhees' decapitation scene in Friday the 13th (1980).

Below are some great production stills from this same scene starring both Betsy and Adrienne King courtesy of Crystal Lake Memories. The fact that this scene is probably THE most iconic events in the franchise obviously goes without saying. I know some will disagree, but ah well.

  2. Indeed those are some truly unique shots from the mildly underrated, atmospheric original fro Sean Cunningham. By the way his film Spring Break is also on DVD along wt his Bad News Bears rip-off of Here Come the Tigers. I own those on DVD as well but it just shows what a lazy film maker Sean was back in the day. But both are oddly enjoyable for those of us that dig & love retro things too.

Also it must've indeed been pretty cold back then as Sean states in the Blu Ray special features. Notice Betsy wearing gloves in the set-up rehersal and the moccasin boots on Savini and his nice vest for its time too...

  3. I guess Savini and Palmer got along famously. She always speaks highly of him and he speaks highly of her.

    1. Agreed--I've never heard either really say any bad word between them. Savini commented that he had great memories of staying at that camp site for over two months, baking his mold in an older pizza oven that was there & re-watching Barbarella and The Marathon Man over & over again on his own MetaMax player according to the Crystal Lake Memories book that I got.
      :)
